Amex Resy credit not posting

Amex's Resy credit only pays back purchases at restaurants marked eligible on Resy, paid directly with your card. Here's why yours didn't post.

By Quy Dinh · Checked Oct 25, 2026

How it works

Enroll in your Amex account first (it can take up to 24 hours). Then pay at a U.S. restaurant or other food and drink spot marked as eligible on Resy.

You don't have to book through Resy. Paying the restaurant directly counts, and so do purchases on Resy, Resy Pay and, since September 15, 2026, prepaid reservations and deposits on Tock for U.S. venues.

Amounts differ by card: $100 a quarter on the Platinum, $50 each half-year on the Gold, $20 a month on the Delta Reserve cards and $10 a month on the Delta Platinum cards.

Charges on additional cards count, but each account has one limit per period.

What it looks like when it works

  • The restaurant's charge, then a separate statement credit from Amex, up to your card's limit for the period.
  • Before you go: an eligible venue's page on Resy says "Qualifies for Resy Credit".

How long it takes

Usually within a few days of the charge. Amex allows up to 8 weeks.

Why it didn’t post

1. The restaurant isn't marked eligible

A venue must show as eligible on its Resy or Tock page at the time you pay, and that can change. Look for "Qualifies for Resy Credit" on its Resy page before you go.

2. You haven't enrolled

Enrollment is required and can take up to 24 hours. Enroll in the Benefits section of your Amex account, then wait a day before you dine.

3. The restaurant is inside another business

Restaurants inside a hotel, department store or food hall may not be recognized, even when they're on Resy.

4. You paid through a third party

Delivery services, third-party payment apps or websites, loyalty programs, and restaurants that use an outside processor or handheld card reader may not trigger the credit.

5. It wasn't a dining purchase

Gift cards, Resy-branded merchandise, catering and delivery orders don't count, or may not.

6. Your limit for the period is used

The limit is per account, so a meal on an additional card counts against it.

7. The charge landed in the next period

Amex uses the date the restaurant processes the charge. A meal at the end of a month, quarter or half-year can count toward the next one.

8. The restaurant isn't in the U.S. or doesn't take Amex

Only U.S. venues that accept American Express qualify.

What doesn’t count

  • Restaurants not marked eligible on Resy or Tock when you pay
  • Restaurants outside the U.S.
  • Gift cards, including Resy-branded Amex gift cards
  • Resy-branded merchandise and Resy's restaurant software
  • Delivery and catering orders
  • Purchases through third-party apps, websites, payment platforms or loyalty programs
  • Restaurants inside hotels, department stores or food halls (often not recognized)

Still missing? Do this

  1. Check the Benefits section of your Amex account to confirm you're enrolled.
  2. Open the restaurant on Resy and check that it says "Qualifies for Resy Credit".
  3. Check that you paid the restaurant directly with a card on the enrolled account, not through a delivery or payment app.
  4. Wait a few days. Amex allows up to 8 weeks.
  5. After that, call the number on the back of your card or chat with Amex. Name the Resy Credit and give the restaurant, date and amount.
