How it works
Add an eligible Amex card to your Uber account, and Uber adds Uber Cash to your Uber wallet on the 1st of each month: $15 on the Platinum (plus a $20 bonus in December) and $10 on the Gold.
There's no statement credit. The Uber Cash comes off the price of U.S. rides and Uber Eats orders at checkout.
To use it, Uber Cash must be turned on and an Amex card must be the payment method for that ride or order.
Uber Cash from the benefit expires at 11:59 PM Hawaii time on the last day of the month. It doesn't roll over.
What it looks like when it works
- Your Uber Cash balance goes up on the 1st of the month. Find it in the Uber or Uber Eats app under Account, then Wallet.
- At checkout, Uber Cash shows above the confirm button for rides, or as a payment method in Uber Eats. Your receipt shows how much it covered.
- Your card is charged only for what the Uber Cash doesn't cover. Nothing about the benefit appears on your Amex statement.
How long it takes
Up to 48 hours after you first add the card. After that, by 5 PM Hawaii time on the 1st of each month.
Why it didn’t post
Cards added through a digital wallet or another third party don't get Uber Cash. In Uber's Wallet, add the card itself by entering the card number, then allow up to 48 hours.
Uber Cash only applies when it's turned on and an Amex card is the payment method. Turn on Uber Cash at checkout and choose any Amex card. You can also make an Amex card your default in Wallet, under your ride profile.
Each card gets Uber Cash on only one Uber account: the first one it was added to. To move it, delete the card from the other account and add it to this one before midnight Eastern time on the 1st. The benefit moves for the new month.
After a replacement card, update the card details in Uber before the month ends. Otherwise you may need to add it again to keep getting Uber Cash.
On the Platinum and Gold, only the main cardholder gets Uber Cash. Additional cards don't, except Additional Centurion Members.
Uber Cash can be spent on an Uber One membership fee. Uber says to turn Uber Cash off for the membership fee so your Amex card is charged instead.
Promotions on your Uber account, and some other kinds of Uber Cash balance, apply before your Amex Uber Cash. Check your Wallet: the Amex amount may still be there.
Uber Cash counts for the month the ride or order is completed. One that finishes after 11:59 PM Hawaii time on the last day of the month uses the next month's amount.
What doesn’t count
- Rides and orders outside the U.S.
- Rides or orders paid with a family profile
- Rides or orders from before the Uber Cash arrived
- Any ride or order paid with a card that isn't an Amex
- Cards added through Apple Pay, PayPal or another wallet (they don't receive Uber Cash)
- Uber Cash from a past month (it expires at month end)
Still missing? Do this
- Open the Uber app, tap Account, then Wallet, and check your Uber Cash balance.
- Check that the card was added directly (not through Apple Pay or PayPal), has your current card number, and is on the Uber account you're using.
- If you just added the card, wait 48 hours. For a monthly amount, wait until 5 PM Hawaii time on the 1st.
- At checkout, turn on Uber Cash and select an Amex card.
- Still missing? Call the number on the back of your card or chat with Amex, and say your Uber Cash benefit didn't arrive.

Questions people ask
Will I see an Uber Cash credit on my Amex statement?
No. Uber Cash goes into your Uber wallet and is used at checkout. Your statement only shows anything left to pay after the Uber Cash.
Do I have to pay with the card that earned it?
No. Any Amex card can be selected for the ride or order, as long as Uber Cash is turned on.
Can I save it for next month?
No. The benefit's Uber Cash expires at the end of each month. On the Platinum, December's $35 expires on December 31.
Is the Uber One credit the same thing?
No. The Platinum's Uber One credit is a separate statement credit for an auto-renewing Uber One membership charged to the card. Uber Cash is the monthly amount in your Uber wallet.
Check a whole statement at once. Premium Finance, our free app, reads the statement PDF or CSV you download from your bank (on your phone, nothing is uploaded) and shows which credits posted, then reminds you before the rest run out. Open the app or try it with a sample wallet.
