Business Platinum vs Platinum

By Quy Dinh · Updated Oct 24, 2026

The short answer

Same lounges, same 5x on flights and prepaid hotels through Amex Travel, same $895 fee. The difference is the credits and the rest of the earning: the personal Platinum’s credits are for everyday life (Uber, streaming, lululemon, Equinox), while the Business Platinum’s are for running a business (Dell, Adobe, Indeed, ChatGPT, wireless), and it earns 2x on purchases of $5,000 or more.

If you have a business that would use those credits, the Business Platinum usually comes out ahead. Plenty of people with a business hold both.

Pick the Business Platinum if

  • You buy software, hardware, electronics or shipping for a business
  • You make large purchases
  • You’d use the Dell, Adobe, Indeed or ChatGPT credits

Pick the Platinum if

  • You don’t have a business
  • You’d use the Uber, streaming, Resy, lululemon and Equinox credits
  • You want 5x on flights booked directly with airlines
