Amex Gold Dunkin' credit not posting

The Gold's up to $7 a month works at most U.S. Dunkin' shops and in the Dunkin' app, but not everywhere. Here's why yours didn't post.

How it works

Enroll first. Then the Gold pays back up to $7 a month when you pay at U.S. Dunkin' locations or through the Dunkin' app.

It's a statement credit after the charge. The $7 resets each calendar month and doesn't roll over.

Charges on additional cards count toward the same $7.

What it looks like when it works

  • The Dunkin' charge, then a separate statement credit from Amex for up to $7.

How long it takes

Usually within a few days of the charge. Amex allows up to 8 weeks.

Why it didn’t post

1. You haven't enrolled

Enrollment is required. Enroll in the Benefits section of your Amex account or by phone.

2. The shop is inside another business

A Dunkin' inside an airport or gas station, or a pop-up, may not be recognized. Use a regular Dunkin' shop or the Dunkin' app.

3. You ordered through a delivery app or caterer

Orders through a delivery app or a caterer aren't made directly with Dunkin', so they may not count.

4. You bought a gift card online or Dunkin' products at a store

Dunkin' gift cards bought online, and Dunkin' coffee or other products sold at grocery or other stores, don't count.

5. You paid with a wallet or through a third party

Purchases made with an electronic wallet, through a third party such as an app store, or on a handheld card reader may not be credited. Pay with the card itself.

6. Your $7 for the month is used

The limit is $7 per account each month, including purchases on additional cards.

7. Your Gold isn't an eligible version

Classic, Traditional and Senior Gold cards don't get this credit.

8. The charge was dated in the next month

Amex uses the date Dunkin' processes the charge. A purchase on the last day of a month can count toward the next month.

What doesn’t count

  • Dunkin' gift cards bought online
  • Dunkin' coffee and other products bought at grocery or other stores
  • Orders through delivery apps or caterers
  • Dunkin' shops inside airports, gas stations or pop-ups (often not recognized)
  • Locations outside the U.S. or shops that don't take Amex

Still missing? Do this

  1. Check the Benefits section of your Amex account to confirm you're enrolled.
  2. Check that you paid a regular U.S. Dunkin' shop or the Dunkin' app with your Gold Card, not through a delivery app.
  3. Wait a few days. Amex allows up to 8 weeks.
  4. If nothing after 8 weeks, call the number on the back of your card or chat with Amex. Name the Dunkin' Credit and give the charge date and amount.

Can I split the $7 over several visits?

Yes. The limit is $7 a month in total, so smaller purchases add up until you reach it.

Do my authorized users' purchases count?

Yes. Purchases on additional cards count toward the same $7 a month.

Check a whole statement at once. Premium Finance, our free app, reads the statement PDF or CSV you download from your bank (on your phone, nothing is uploaded) and shows which credits posted, then reminds you before the rest run out. Open the app or try it with a sample wallet.
