Hilton Aspire resort credit not showing up

Stayed at a Hilton resort and the $200 credit never posted? Usually the hotel isn't on Hilton's list, the rate was prepaid, or a charge didn't go on your room bill.

How it works

The Hilton Honors Aspire card pays back up to $200 from January to June and up to $200 from July to December for purchases made directly with participating Hilton resorts.

Only hotels on Hilton's resort credit list count. It names specific resorts across many brands, from Conrad and Waldorf Astoria to Hampton, not every Hilton.

The resort has to bill your Aspire card. Restaurant, spa and shop charges must go on your room bill first.

There's no enrollment. Additional cards on the account count too, but share the same $200 per half-year.

What it looks like when it works

  • The resort's charge on your Aspire card under the hotel's own name, then a separate statement credit for up to $200.
  • Cardholders report the credit line names the benefit, recently 'AMEX Hilton Honors Aspire Resort Credit'.

How long it takes

Often within a few days of the resort's charge. Amex says to allow 8-12 weeks. What cardholders report

Why it didn’t post

1. The hotel isn't on Hilton's resort credit list

Check Hilton's list of resort credit eligible hotels before you book. A Hilton that calls itself a resort but isn't on the list doesn't count.

2. You booked an Advance Purchase or non-refundable rate

Those rates don't count. Book a refundable rate and pay the resort with your Aspire card.

3. You booked or paid through someone else

The purchase must be made directly with the resort. A stay paid through a travel site comes from that site, not the resort, so it isn't recognized.

4. You paid at a restaurant, spa or shop separately

Outlets inside the resort can bill under their own names. Charge them to your room and pay the room bill with the Aspire card.

5. It's a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property

Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties don't count, even though you can book them through Hilton.

6. This half's $200 is used, or the charge fell in the next half

The $200 is shared by all cards on the account. Amex goes by the date the resort processes the charge, so a late-June stay billed in July counts toward July to December.

7. You paid with a phone wallet or a mobile card reader

Amex says it may not recognize charges made with an electronic wallet or on a mobile or wireless card reader. Pay the folio with the card itself.

What doesn’t count

  • Hilton hotels that aren't on the resort credit list
  • Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties
  • Advance Purchase and non-refundable rates
  • Stays booked or paid through travel sites or other third parties
  • Restaurant, spa or shop charges paid on their own instead of to your room
  • The part of a stay paid with Hilton Honors points

Still missing? Do this

  1. Check the hotel on Hilton's resort credit eligible list.
  2. Look at your folio: the rate shouldn't be Advance Purchase or non-refundable, extras should be on the room bill, and the bill should be paid with the Aspire card.
  3. Find the resort's charge on your statement, under the hotel's own name.
  4. Wait: Amex allows 8-12 weeks.
  5. Then call the number on the back of your card or use chat, give the resort, dates and amount, and ask for the Hilton resort credit.

Questions people ask

Does the room rate count, or only extras?

Both. Eligible purchases made directly with a participating resort count, including the room, as long as the rate isn't Advance Purchase or non-refundable.

Can I use the $200 over more than one stay?

Yes. It's up to $200 per half-year across all eligible purchases on the account.

Is this the same as the $100 property credit?

No. The $100 property credit is for two-night Waldorf Astoria and Conrad stays booked at the Aspire card rate, and it comes off your hotel bill at checkout, not your statement.

Do additional cards count?

Yes. Purchases on additional cards count, and they share the same $200 per half-year.

Check a whole statement at once. Premium Finance, our free app, reads the statement PDF or CSV you download from your bank (on your phone, nothing is uploaded) and shows which credits posted, then reminds you before the rest run out. Open the app or try it with a sample wallet.
