The Edit credit not posting on your Sapphire Reserve

The Edit credit only posts on prepaid stays of two nights or more booked through Chase Travel. Here's what blocks it and what to do.

By Quy Dinh · Checked Oct 25, 2026

How it works

You get a statement credit of up to $250 on a prepaid (Pay Now) stay of two nights or more at a hotel in The Edit, booked through Chase Travel.

You get two of these $250 credits each calendar year. Since January 1, 2026, both can be used any time in the year.

Each booking can get at most one $250 credit. Chase applies it automatically once the stay is charged to your card, with no activation.

What it looks like when it works

  • On the Sapphire Reserve, a separate credit line that reads "THE EDIT $500/YEAR CREDIT", after the Chase Travel hotel charge.
  • The same booking can also get your $300 travel credit ("TRAVEL CREDIT $300/YEAR") and, for prepaid stays at certain hotel brands paid for in 2026, a separate hotel credit of up to $250, each on its own line.

How long it takes

Chase says the credit usually posts 3 to 5 days after the hotel charge settles, but it can take up to two billing cycles.

Why it didn’t post

1. You picked Pay Later

Pay Later bookings, paid at the hotel, still get The Edit's stay perks but never the statement credit. Only prepaid Pay Now stays qualify.

2. The stay is one night

Only stays of two nights or more qualify. A one-night booking doesn't get the credit.

3. The hotel isn't part of The Edit

Most hotels on Chase Travel aren't in The Edit. Before you book, look for The Edit banner or logo on the hotel in Chase Travel.

4. You paid with points, or too little went on the card

A booking paid only with points doesn't qualify. With a mix of points and card, the part charged to the card has to be more than $250.

5. You booked with the hotel or another travel site

The credit only works on bookings made through Chase Travel. The same hotel booked anywhere else doesn't count.

6. Both credits are used for this year

You get two $250 credits per calendar year, one per booking. A third stay in the same year is charged in full. New credits start January 1.

7. It hasn't posted yet

Wait 3 to 5 days after the hotel charge settles. It can take up to two billing cycles.

8. An employee card made the booking (Sapphire Reserve for Business)

On the business card, only the primary cardmember is eligible for The Edit. Bookings on employee or authorized user cards don't get the credit.

What doesn’t count

  • Pay Later bookings paid at the hotel
  • Stays of one night
  • Bookings paid only with points
  • Points and card bookings where the card part is $250 or less
  • Hotels on Chase Travel that aren't in The Edit
  • Stays booked directly with the hotel or on another site
  • Bookings on employee cards of the Sapphire Reserve for Business

Still missing? Do this

  1. Open the booking in Chase Travel and check that it's an Edit hotel, prepaid (Pay Now), for at least two nights.
  2. Check how it was paid: all points doesn't qualify, and with points and card the card part must be over $250.
  3. Wait until the hotel charge has settled, then give it 3 to 5 more days.
  4. Still nothing after that? Call the number on the back of your card and ask about The Edit credit for that booking.
  5. Missing a stay perk like breakfast or the property credit instead? Contact Chase Travel's lodging support, not the card's customer service.

Questions people ask

Can I use both $250 credits on one long stay?

No. Each booking gets at most one $250 credit, so you need two separate qualifying bookings to use both.

What happens if I cancel?

Chase says your Edit credit is returned and applies to a new qualifying reservation. To change a booking, you cancel and rebook within the hotel's cancellation window.

Does the stay still earn points?

The part covered by the credit earns no points. Chase says the rest earns points like any Chase Travel booking.

Does my $300 travel credit also apply?

Yes. The $300 travel credit applies to Edit stays on its own, so one stay can get both.
