How it works
The Platinum (including the Schwab and Morgan Stanley versions) and the Business Gold card cover one monthly Walmart+ membership: up to $12.95 plus tax back each month.
There's no Amex enrollment. You join the monthly Walmart+ plan and pay with any card on your Amex account.
It's one credit per card account per month, for the first Walmart+ membership charge Amex processes that month.
Only the monthly plan counts. Annual Walmart+ memberships get no credit.
What it looks like when it works
- Each month, a Walmart+ membership charge followed by a credit for the same amount, tax included.
- On Platinum cards, cardholders report the credit reads 'Platinum Walmart+ Credit'. Some bank feeds and budgeting apps shorten it to just Walmart.
How long it takes
Usually within a few days of the monthly charge. Amex says it can take up to 6-8 weeks.
Why it didn’t post
Switch to the monthly plan at least one day before your annual renewal date. If the annual plan already renewed, that fee won't be credited.
In your Walmart account, make a card on your Platinum or Business Gold account the Walmart+ payment method. If your card was replaced or expired, update the number there.
The credit pays back a membership fee charged to the card, so a free month has nothing to credit. It starts with the first paid month.
Amex credits only the first Walmart+ membership charge it processes each month, and only one per account, even if another card on the account was charged.
Plus Ups (such as Walmart InHome) and Walmart Business+ don't count. Only the regular monthly Walmart+ fee is covered.
Amex says it may not recognize charges made through a third party or an electronic wallet. Put the card itself on file with Walmart.
A credit may not post if the account is past due or closed when it's due, or if you moved to a different card before Walmart sent the charge.
What doesn’t count
- Annual Walmart+ memberships
- Plus Ups such as Walmart InHome
- Walmart Business+ memberships
- A second Walmart+ membership charge on the same account in the same month
- Free trial months (no fee is charged)
- Regular Walmart shopping (only the membership fee is covered)
Still missing? Do this
- In your Walmart account, check that the plan is monthly and the payment card is on your Amex account.
- Find the Walmart+ charge on your Amex statement and note its date and amount.
- Give it a week; Amex allows up to 6-8 weeks.
- Still nothing after 8 weeks? Call the number on the back of your card or use chat and ask about the Walmart+ membership credit for that charge.
