Amex Platinum lululemon credit not showing up

Shopped at lululemon with your Platinum card and no $75 credit? It's usually enrollment, an outlet or Like New purchase, or how you paid.

How it works

Platinum cards get up to $75 back each calendar quarter (January to March, April to June, July to September, October to December), up to $300 a year.

You must enroll first. Only the Basic Card Member or an Authorized Account Manager can enroll, in the Benefits section of the Amex account or app, or by phone.

Purchases made directly with lululemon count: U.S. stores, lululemon's U.S. website and the lululemon app. Purchases on additional cards count once the account is enrolled.

The $75 can be spread over several purchases in a quarter. Whatever you don't use is gone when the quarter ends.

What it looks like when it works

  • A separate statement credit for the purchase, up to what's left of this quarter's $75. Cardholders report it reads 'Platinum Lululemon Credit'.
  • A purchase over $75 gets $75 back. A smaller one gets its full amount back, and the rest stays available until the quarter ends.
  • If you return the item, the credit is taken back.

How long it takes

Usually within a few days of the purchase posting. Amex and lululemon say to allow up to 8 weeks.

Why it didn’t post

1. You haven't enrolled

Enroll in the Benefits section of your Amex account or app (Basic Card Member or Authorized Account Manager only). The credit only goes to enrolled accounts, so enroll before you shop.

2. You shopped at an outlet, warehouse sale, event or showroom

Those lululemon locations are excluded. Shop at a regular U.S. store, the U.S. website or the lululemon app.

3. You bought Like New, lululemon Studio or a gift card

Like New (lululemon's resale program), lululemon Studio and gift cards are all excluded.

4. You paid through a third party or a digital wallet

Amex says it may not recognize purchases made through a third party or an electronic wallet. Pay with the card itself at checkout.

5. This quarter's $75 is already used

All cards on the account share one $75 a quarter. Check for earlier lululemon purchases this quarter, including on additional cards.

6. The charge was processed in the next quarter

Amex goes by the date lululemon processes the charge. A purchase on the last day of a quarter can count toward the next one.

7. The order shipped outside the U.S.

Orders shipped outside the U.S. don't count.

8. Your card was replaced

Update the card saved in your lululemon account, and check in the Amex Benefits section that your enrollment still shows.

  • Like New resale purchases
  • lululemon Studio
  • Gift cards
  • Orders shipped outside the U.S.
  • Wholesale purchases
  • lululemon items bought from other stores

Still missing? Do this

  1. In your Amex account or app, open Benefits and make sure the lululemon credit shows as enrolled.
  2. Check where you bought: a regular U.S. store, the U.S. website or the app, not an outlet, warehouse sale or Like New.
  3. Add up this quarter's lululemon purchases on every card on the account to see what's left of the $75.
  4. Wait at least a week after the charge posts; Amex allows up to 8 weeks.
  5. After 8 weeks, call the number on the back of your card or use chat and ask about the lululemon credit for that purchase. lululemon sends benefit questions to Amex.

When does it reset?

On January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1. Unused credit doesn't carry over.

Do purchases on additional cards count?

Yes, once the Basic Card Member has enrolled. They share the same $75 a quarter, and the credit goes to the Basic Card Member's account.

What happens if I return something?

Amex can reverse the credit for that purchase, which frees that amount up again for the quarter.

Who do I contact, Amex or lululemon?

Amex for the credit, lululemon for the order itself.
